Hi, I'm Rose of Rose Schaller Photo. I'm originally from Rhode Island and I reside in New York now and spend as much time in the summer as I can on Block Island. I picked up my first film camera at 11 and made an accidental double exposure, from then on I was HOOKED! I took photography courses at RISD staring in 1994 and continued my education through PPA earning my CPP. I absolutely LOVE being a wedding photographer. I could not imagine my life absent from the opportunity to witness a couples love and document all your moments to cherish for a lifetime. My Bio:
I am a wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend and photographer who captures LOVE. Like many photographers my interest in photography started at a young age. Growing up I was always snapping photos and compiling album after album of images. After completing college and beginning a career in an unrelated field (computer programming) I decided to return to school in 1994 at RISD (Rhode Island School of Design) to pursue my dream career in fine art photography. I wanted to be more than a picture taker and endeavor to perfect my photography every day. I attend many workshops to learn new techniques to photography. I also plan my own fun photo sessions during the winter months to build on new skills. I have photographed over 100 weddings in my 19 years as a wedding photographer. I have run a successful photography business for over 20 years. You can be guaranteed I'll still be here when you need reprints or to save any future moments in your life. I have earned by CPP from the Professional Photographers of America which requires passing an exam with 100 technical questions related to photography and exposure with an 80 or above as well as an image review by master photographers.
When I'm not working my other passions are traveling and cooking. I love to venture overseas or camping to discover areas I haven't been to. I take a ton of photos of the new places I travel to. My home is full of canvas prints from my travels. I also enjoy taking photos of my family (although not as many as I should) and enjoy looking back on all the years of photos to see how fast we are all changing! I try new gourmet recipes in the winter and in my busy seasons the crock pot is always warming up something delicious for dinner.
Giving Back: I belong to charity photography groups such as Operation Love (photos for military families) and the Heart Gallery (which helps foster children find forever homes) by taking complimentary portraits. For over 10 years I was the Hudson Valley Coordinator for Now I Lay me Down to Sleep (infant bereavement photography) and I still take photos for them at local hospitals. Through these organizations I am able to give back to the community in need of capturing precious moments. I also organize each earth day photo sessions with the proceeds going to Navajo Water Project which is trying to give Native Americans running water in their homes and towns.
I am an administrator for Wedding Vendors of the Hudson Valley helping all vendors learn and network together to improve a couples wedding day experience.
